Let's talk about: Audio Book Month!

Audio Book Month!

June is not only the beginning of summer but it is also audio book month.

I love audio book. I have replaced all of my Ipod's music with books. I listen to them when I am exercising, doing daily chores, commuting and when I am falling asleep. I am sure it has some blame on my insomnia but I don't care I love hearing about wonderful worlds and imagining them.

I understand that audio books are not for everyone because some people are visual learners while other auditory. It is also important to understand that not every book works as an audio book. My audio book selections are usually books that are easier in content or books I can't get through. I don't listen to those I am anxiously waiting on or books that are part of my favorite series, those I like to enjoy one page at a time.

Reasons why I love audio books:
1. They make boring task go by faster. (Such as cleaning, exercising, etc...) I don't suggest you try to listen to them when you are at work because they do require concentration.

2. I love some of the narration. This is a iffy point because there are many books that I disliked because of the narration but I simply didn't listen to that one and opted to reading it instead. I don't think people should avoid audio book because there are some with bad narrators because just as there are bad there are amazing ones that make the stories better. I suggest you sample the audio book before you buy it.

3. It allows me to get through more books a week. I am a fast reader but I don't always find the time to sit down and read and this is where they make my life a little easier.

Do you like audio book? Why or Why not?

  1. I've never actually tried audio books. I'm not sure I'd like them - I think because of negative experiences with audio Shakespeare plays in high school English classes, lol. But I feel like I should give one a try. Any you'd recommend to start with?

  2. I totally agree with you. I started listening to audiobooks about 3 years ago and LOVE IT. It allows me to get through more books while doing boring chores, exercising, etc. And I agree, some narrators can totally ruin a book, which is why I pick and choose which books I can listen to and which ones I have to read.

    Great post!

  3. I loved the Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen audio book narrated by David LeDoux and John Randolph Jones.
I am currently listening to Incarceron by Catherine Fisher, read by Kim Mai Guest.
I suggest you sample the book before you buy it because bad narration can ruin the story.
