Top Ten Books I Wish I Could Read Again For The First Time

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by the The Broke and the Bookish

I feel like I always end up listing the same books over and over. I guess that just means that they are amazing and if you haven't read them then you definitely should as soon as you can.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

1. Harry Potter by J.K Rowling- I think this is an obvious one and probably on everyone's list. This is one of the first books that began my addiction to books.

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)

2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins- I remember being completely shocked with the idea of The Hunger Games and scared out of my mind for Katniss. The emotional roller coaster that this book took me on  was intense and I wish I could re-experience it.

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)

3. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare- To meet Jace for the first time... enough said.

Twilight (Twilight, #1)

4. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer- I know this series has a lot of people who dislike it but I love it.  I hope Stephanie decides to publish Midnight Sun soon so I can get Edwards perspective of Twilight.

Jane Eyre

5. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte- This Gothic novel introduced me to a book world where not everything was happily ever after. I loved that it showed duality in the characters.

Frankenstein

6. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley- The movies do not do justice to this book. I was engulfed by Mary's take on what can happen when humanity tries to play God.

The Notebook

7. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks- An amazing book that takes you on a love journey. From meeting, to falling in love, to the realization that love is not a fairy-tale story and finally the endurance of love.
The Time Traveler's Wife

8. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger- I wish I could re-read this book and be surprised by the ending.

Juliet

9. Juliet by Anne Fortier- I love Romeo and Juliet and this book gave me a different take on the classic story. I loved the mystery and love story.

Water for Elephants

10. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen- This is the first book that I read that took place on a circus and it left me wanting to read more.

  1. Jane Eyre and Frankenstein are two of my favorite classics. Really fabulous stories, both.

  2. I've just re-read Frankenstein for the first time and it's definitely not the same as the first time, mainly because I just kept going "Victor is so horrid!" this time round!

  4. Harry Potter, of course :) I've read that series literally... a dozen times? I think maybe even more than that. I've had Water for Elephants on my bookshelf for a year or so and haven't gotten to it yet!

  5. I got City of Bones for my birthday last month. It looks scarier than I'd expected. Maybe too scary for Scaredy-Cat Me!

Here's my Top Ten for this week. Hope you'll stop by!

  6. Your first four were my top four too. :) I almost put Time Traveler's Wife on my list, but I hated the ending too much to add it. If the ending in the book had been more like the movie, then I would agree. :)

  7. Looks like we had a lot of similar books! I loved Water for Elephants as well - that's another one where it would be great to recapture the magic of the first read.

Thanks for stopping by my TTT :)

  8. They truly are, I really wish I could find more stories like these.

  9. I like reading stories more than once because I usually miss subtle clues the first time I read them but I agree, the experienced is ruined when you already know the actions of the main characters.
